Textin definitely can start to lag with the iphone.

Apple needs a firmware update quick! I have found an alternate solution.

Go into notes, just start typing something and then return to texting. It should run fast for quite some time. Sucks to have to do this, but it's a quick solution for now.

I have an iPhone 3G and it's true it was slow texting when I got it on Friday, but you just have to learn to trust it.

Eventually you will learn to hit the right keys, and if you don't you can really trust the autocorrection 95% of the time unless you swear, cause it turns the f word into duck.. And even F-ing into ducking.. LOL

I've not used the iPhone, but had a Motorola A1000 a while back. Whilst generally a powerful device, I never get on with the touchscreen approach. Found it slower to text whilst mobile - and nigh on impossible to use one-handed.

Sat down and focussed it could be quicker, but then I'd likely use my PC.

The iPhones keyboard definitely takes more than 30 minutes to get used to before you see significant improvements in your typing speed. Once you start to trust your abilities on the on-screen keyboard it's a lot faster.
